Time: 8:00 pm
Location: Cabragh Wetlands Centre
Our Tipperary branch invite you to join them for An illustrated talk by John N Murphy about The Birds of Loop Head. Loop Head is an excellent birdwatching destination due to its location on the coast, which attracts a wide variety of seabirds, migrating birds, and birds of prey. Key species include seabirds like puffins, guillemots, and gannets, as well as migratory birds such as Brent Geese and various sandpipers and skuas. Birdwatching is particularly popular during autumn migration, especially from August to October, when west and northwest winds bring many species closer to shore. Farming for Nature by Bryan Daniels

Date: November 18, 2025
Time: 8:00 pm
Location: Orchard House, Golf links road R95 XRC4
Join our Kilkenny branch for an evening discussing farming for Nature with Bryan Daniels. Bryan and Gail Daniels are a husband and wife team who are farming a 156ha farm in the south Kilkenny hills. With a stocking rate of 2.47LU/hectare and 272 cows, they run a conventional spring calving dairy system but they have a focus on animal welfare and soil welfare that sets them apart from other conventional farmers. They’ve fenced off the old groves that Bryan’s grandfather planted and sowed native trees and bushes into them. They often see buzzards, sparrowhawks, kestrels and kites. They’ve been in environmental schemes since 1997 and do traditional hedge laying almost every year as well as setting aside eighteen acres for traditional hay meadows each year. These help to provide cover and feed for ground nesting birds. Branch contacts: birdwatchkilkenny@gmail.com
