Our Tolka branch invite you to join them for an evening with Caroline McDonald to discuss The Asian Hornet Threat.
The Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) is a highly invasive predator threatening biodiversity, particularly honeybee populations, as a single nest can devastate local hives. Native to Southeast Asia, they hunt bees, wasps, and pollinators, impacting ecosystem services. Confirmed nests were found in Ireland (Cork) in 2025, triggering intensive monitoring, with fears they may become established.
