There are two routes to get here and the one included here, from Drumcondra, is the preferred route. You do have a motorway toll, but it is a lot quicker and on less windy roads overall.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/8SEVQQhxYiojBCtS6. This route leaves the M6 at junction 5 for Kilbeggan/Tullamore.

You have a choice then.

  1. On the N52 and before Tullamore take the L2007 towards Rahan. Continue on and go right and join onto the R357

or

  1. Continue on the N52 and bypass Tullamore. Go on as far as the junction with the R357 and turn right onto this road (at the Blue Ball Pub)

For both of these the Boora Bog will then be signposted on your LEFT off the R357.

(Boora Bog is north of the Slive Blooms)

Google Maps is to be preferred as some other satnavs may send you all over the place (from past experience!)

Journey time from Drumcondra will be about 1hr 45min

While we will keep to the approved tracks etc., there may still be standing water and muddy patches, so good walking shoes are recommended.
