Our Cavan branch invite you to join them for an outing to Annagh Woods, Ballyconnell *** Be aware the clocks go back on this date *** Autumn is the ideal season for a walk through the forest, and Annagh Wood Forest is the ideal location for it. Be warned that some parts of the path, particularly along the canal side, may be muddy after significant rain. Species frequently spotted in the area include woodland favorites like Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Robin, and Goldcrest, alongside birds of prey such as Buzzards and Sparrowhawks. The Countryside Bird Survey (CBS) is one of Ireland's longest-running bird monitoring projects. Established in 1998, it tracks the status of common and widespread breeding birds such as Robin, Wren, Blackbird, and Chaffinch, as well as some of the rarer species. The survey is coordinated by BirdWatch Ireland and funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
