The residents of Spike Island have always shared the island with the many birds and animals that dot the harbour coastline and today the island is part of conservation efforts for endangered species. Several rare bird species have been identified, and efforts a creating a robust bio-diversity plan are underway. Join our Wicklow branch for their Annual Outing to the Kilcoole Little Tern Colony, Kilcoole, Co Wicklow. We will be joined by staff from NPWS Knocksink Wood, for the walk to the Tern colony where we will meet the warden. We will stop along the way to observe birds at Cooldross Nature reserve and the Irish sea.
