Land-based Renewables

In 2015 BirdWatch Ireland developed a Bird Wind Sensitivity Mapping Tool for terrestrial wind energy development. The mapping tool can be viewed below along with information of the 22 bird species included in the mapping. Areas of low, medium and high sensitivity of birds to wind energy on land were identified. We hope that this mapping tool will inform national strategic plans for terrestrial wind energy.
