Accomodation
The Observatory building is nestled in north harbour of Cape Clear Island. This idyllic location is within easy reach of the main facilities of the island. Also an easy walk to some of Ireland’s best known birdwatching spots.
The building can accommodate 7 guests on a self-catering basis (no breakfast provided). A fully equipped kitchen and fridge is available for guests to bring their own food. It is important to note that the Observatory provides shared bathroom, kitchen and living space. Some of the bedrooms are also communal. Where possible, we try to arrange bookings to keep shared bedrooms single gender, however this is not always possible. The Observatory has an extensive natural history library, dining room and shared bathroom facilities which provide for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Bed linen is provided. Although the Bird Observatory Warden doesn’t live in the building, they do access the building regularly to access field equipment and check in on guests.
Rates are €30/night per person for BirdWatch Ireland members and €40/night per person for non-members.
