Tasks:
Help recruit new members for Ireland’s largest conservation NGO at our stand in the Grand Pavilion.

  • Assist BirdWatch Ireland staff members running the indoor stand at Bord Bia’s Bloom festival
  • Engage with public to spread awareness about the importance of birds and biodiversity
  • Talk to festival-goers about the vital work of BirdWatch Ireland
  • Sell pin-badges and BirdWatch Ireland memberships
Impact

BirdWatch Ireland is the largest independent conservation organisation in the country. With over 15,000 members, BirdWatch Ireland has established a strong voice by which to act and advocate for nature. The more members we have, the better we can protect our birds and biodiversity. Up to 110,000 people visit Bord Bia’s Bloom Festival each year, making it an ideal opportunity to spread awareness about the work we do and recruit new members.

Time and commitment

Minimum time commitment: At least 4 hrs.

Hours required: at least 4 hrs between 8.00 – 18.00.

Language skills

Fluent English preferred. Fluency in other languages also beneficial (but not necessary).

Over 18s.

  • Wristbands to enter the festival on the day of volunteering
  • Support from BirdWatch Ireland staff members
Getting there

On Foot: Bloom is located in the centre of The Phoenix Park and is easily accessible on foot. It would take approx. 45 minutes to walk from Parkgate Street Gate to Front Entrance (Chesterfield Avenue) and approx. 10 minutes from the Ashtown or Cabra Gates to the Rear Entrance (North Road). It would take approx. 25 minutes to walk from the Castleknock Gate.

By Bike: It’s possible to cycle right up to the Bloom entrances where cyclists can safely park and lock their bikes in our expanded cycle parks for Bloom 2025.

Shuttle: A free Shuttle Bus Service operates from Parkgate St. to Bloom and back from 7.30am to 7:00pm daily. Drop off will be at a specially designated Bloom stop on Chesterfield Avenue. If you are travelling by train we would advise visitors to leave Bloom 90 minutes prior to your train departure time, to allow yourself ample time.

Luas: If you are planning to take the Luas, travel to the Heuston stop and then avail of the free shuttle bus from Parkgate Street (outlined above). Broombridge Train Station and Luas Stop (Green Line) is a 40 minute walk to Bloom.

Train: If you are planning to take the train, travel to Heuston Station and then avail of the free shuttle bus from Parkgate Street. Broombridge Train Station is a 40 minute walk from Bloom.

Dublin Bus: Routes 37, 38, 38A, 38B, 38D, 39, 39A, 70, 70D and 122  leave you to the Navan Rd, which is a 20-minute walk to the site. The 46a leaves you to the North Circular Road Gate which is a 30 minute walk to the site. (*Please note, some of these bus routes are now altered due to recent transport changes. Check Transport for Ireland for updated information on routes to Navan Road and North Circular Road).

Car: Traffic from the city centre can use Cabra Gate via Blackhorse Ave, the Main Gate to the Phoenix Park (Parkgate Street) and the NCR Gate. Traffic from north city & M50 traffic the Castleknock Gate, Ashtown Gate, Knockmaroon Gate and Chapelizod Gate (From N4 viaNorth Circular) are all available.
Once you enter the Phoenix Park, follow the signs for the nearest Car Park.
