Calling all artists—our partners are looking for a new logo to be the face of the upcoming Bird Atlas 2027–31. The ideal logo will capture the essence of the project and the partners involved, which includes: the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), BirdWatch Ireland, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club, and the Welsh Ornithology Society.

It’s been nearly two decades since the Bird Atlas 2007–11 was released, and a lot has changed since then. Through comprehensive surveys throughout Britain and Ireland, we’ll be able to better understand new bird trends and distributions, for both the winter and breeding seasons. The completion of the Bird Atlas relies on the power of volunteers, who will collect robust evidence that will underpin conservation action for decades to come.

The new logo will be at the center of the Bird Atlas 2027–31, capturing the importance of the project and the organizations, volunteers, and species involved. Winners have a chance to win £1,500. All entries must be submitted to communications@bto.org by Sunday, 9 August 2026. Stay tuned for more information about BirdWatch Ireland’s involvement in the Bird Atlas 2027–31 in the upcoming weeks and months.
