Celebrating 60 years of Cape Clear Bird Observatory #CCBO60

Welcome to the Cape Clear Wildlife Festival 2019. Opening on the 2nd September by David Lindo (left – aka The Urban Birder), we have an action-packed range of exciting wildlife events lined up.

All events are free and everyone is welcome. Ferry timetables and accommodation information is available at the bottom of this page.

We hope you will be able to join us and see all that this beautiful island has to offer.

Saturday 14 September

 

From 12:00 midnight (Friday night) – 6:30pm (Saturday) Cape Clear Bird Race 2019.

8pm: Calling the Bird Log

9pm:  Bird Race Results & Festival Close

The Race is open to everyone, from the very experienced birder to the very inexperienced!  Teams interested in taking part in the Race please register their interest by email to the Nicholas Mitchell at secretary@birdwatchirelandwestcork.ie.  For anyone who do not have a team of four, but wants to take part, please also register your interest and the West Cork Branch will try to put you with a team.

  • Race entry is €10 per person.  This will include finger food after the Race and a donation to the Bird Observatory.
  • A checklist of birds, with a list of the rules, and a race area map will be provided on the day.
  • Formal registration will be on Cape Clear at 9:45pm on Friday 13 September.
