Starling murmurations have been generating great excitement amongst spectators in Meath over the past couple of weeks. Great flocks of starlings numbering in the 10’s of thousands have been putting on a fantastic show each evening before settling down to roost. Starlings use the murmuration to attract other birds of their species to the roost where they can benefit from the protection and thermal insulation of being in such great numbers.
